Heavily influenced by growing up queer in an Evangelical Christian environment, illustrator Sami鈥檚 work often puts a critical lens on the doctrine taught within these religious institutions. They use a combination of bright colors and intense subject matter to convey an eerie sense of whimsy within their work, while also implementing typography and hand lettering. Halfpenny鈥檚 thesis is a playable board game mocking the Christian idea of free will and its inherent hypocrisy, while still being fun to play. Their work has been featured on Springhouse Brewery鈥檚 2022 Artist Series beer cans as well as the CORE Gallery.
